Class Schedule

Please call the Center for details at (925) 935-5425

SpicesWe at Mt. Diablo unfold the knowledge of Ayurveda in the food we eat. Ayurveda heals through food and its concept of beneficial and non-beneficial diet, as well as a whole class of mentally purifying diets (Sattvic Ahara). Eating according to the Ayurvedic injunctions goes a long way in restoring mind-body-spirit health. Food can either be Dosha balancing or Dosha aggravating, and we will help you choose the optimum foods cooked in easy to make Ayurvedic recipes. If you are treading the path of Ayurveda then this class will help you explore ideas that will compliment your health regimen. You will learn about healthy food combinations as well as which foods to avoid because they are incompatible with each other. There is a science to eating right. Let us show you the way, with our years of experience in cooking and amazing knowledge of Ayurveda. All these wholesome foods provide a very nutritious total diet at an incredibly reasonable cost.

Purifying Foods

Learn to cook tasty foods that not only please your palate but also purify your body. These foods get digested easily and are assimilated into the body as healthy tissue. They cleanse the elimination channels and purify each and every cell of the body. These foods are classified as Pachak foods in Ayurveda, which refers to their digestive quality.

Appetizing Foods

Learn to cook foods that tickle your taste buds, stoke your digestive juices and kick up the heat in your belly. Appetizing foods are great to have when you feel low or when you have little appetite. They pick up not only your appetite but also your mood. These foods are classified as Rochak in Ayurveda, which refers to their digestive juices promoting quality.

DishSustaining Foods

Learn to cook foods that can be eaten on a daily basis to maintain health. Enjoy the variety and benefit from the medicinal and aromatic spices. Sustaining foods are easy to prepare, and in time your body and mind begin to look forward to their soothing comfort and assured nutrition. Ayurveda classifies these foods as Hitkara, which refers to their beneficial quality when consumed on a regular basis.
