The Spiritual Body
Every man is a combination of materialization, vibration and radiation, or radiance (Bhur, Bhuva, Suvaha). Human body with all its limbs and muscles is referred to as materialization. The Life force (Prana Shakti) is vibration that corresponds to the breathing process. These two are coordinated by the Atomic Power, Radiation (radiance) that is the divine effulgence, man’s true nature. Hence a man is the embodiment of all forms of magnetic powers latent in him. There is gold, there is iron, there is air, there is water and various other elements present in him with the spirit pervading the entire body in the form of essence.
Five Koshas or sheaths envelop man.
1. Annamaya Kosha (Physical or Food sheath)
2. Pranamaya Kosha (Breath or Vital Force or Life Sheath)
3. Manomaya Kosha (Mind Sheath)
4. Vigyanmaya Kosha (Wisdom Sheath)
5. Anandmaya Kosha (Bliss Sheath)
Whereas other living beings can at best reach up to three Koshas, man can easily go to the fourth and even beyond, if he makes efforts. This is what makes man superior in the universe. It is through this wisdom that man can perceive the underlying unity between the individual self and the Universal self, which is pure health, wisdom, love and bliss.
To transform any illness into a condition of pure wellness one must get necessary healing treatments for each sheath where the root of an illness is. Following are the therapies recommended for each level of our spiritual body for complete healing.
- Physical Sheath: Proper Diet, Nutritional Supplementation, Herbs, Rejuvenating Yogic Exercises (Asanas), Body treatments with Water, Oil, Mud, Steam etc.
- Life Sheath: Yogic Breathing Techniques (Pranayama)
- Mind Sheath: Meditation, Spiritual Counseling, Positive Affirmations.
- Wisdom Sheath: Gem Stone Therapy, Homeopathy, Light and Color Therapies.
- Bliss Sheath: Spiritual Music, Primordial Sounds, Mantras, and Chants.
The body can be compared to a car, the eyes are the headlights, the mouth is the horn, the mind is the steering, and the stomach is the fuel tank. The four objectives of human life-Dharma (Right living), Artha (Wealth), Kama (Purified desires), and Moksha (Self realization or liberation)-are like four tires. One should fill these tires with the air of "Faith". The fuel (Food) that fills the tank (Stomach) should be pure and sacred. When the fuel is impure, a blockage may result. Hence pure, balanced food is recommended. Only then will the "car" be in good condition and take us to life’s destination. Man’s life will be always healthy when he understands the principles of his body.
