Yoga Therapy

Picture
Yoga is defined as the union of the body and mind into one cohesive entity. At Mount DIablo Integrative Wellness Center we believe that in order to treat the physical symptoms of the body, we must also look at the underlying causes of the
symptoms an utilize the power of the body, mind, emotions and intuition in order to effectively heal. People think of yoga as merely the performance of physical postures. Yogic philosophy and practice is much broader and deeper than
this. In our classes we focus on the health of the individual by practicing rejuvenating therapeutic yogic exercises that may include stretching, posture, restoratives, conscious breath, mantra repetition, chanting, holding sacred gestures with the hands, and various forms of deep relaxation practices from a
variety of yogic styles including Hatha, Anusara, Kundalini, Viniyoga and others.

Every person is a combination of a physical body, breath and
nerve impulses, thoughts, emotions, wisdom and joy. When dis-ease manifests on one level, it is echoed throughout all five levels of our being. The five levels are:
  1. Physical (bones, muscles, skin, organs)
  2. Energetic (breath, nervous system)
  3. Mental/Emotional (thoughts, emotional patterns)
  4. Wisdom (intuition, synchronicity)
  5. Bliss (ability to connect to something higher than self)
To transform any illness into a condition of pure wellness one must get necessary healing treatments for each sheath where the root of an illness is. The body can be compared to a car, the eyes are the headlights, the mouth is the horn, the mind is the steering, and the stomach is the fuel tank. Only when the car is in good condition can it carry us safely and securely through life.
