Priti Parekh, MD
Dr. Alka Mulakaluri, MAS
As I was growing up, my family instilled a
faith in me that nothing is impossible to
achieve in life if one commits their mind
and body to it.
I carry this same philosophy to patient
care. Human body is a fascinating but
complex gift of nature that has marvelous
rewards in store for us. And like all
complex things sometimes it requires
attention. It is a very humbling and
gratifying experience for me to work with
the patients so that they can get the most
from this gift.
After graduating from a top medical school
in India, I immigrated to USA and completed residency at
UCSF affiliated Highland Hospital in Oakland California. I
became an internist at Kaiser Permenente immediately
During residency and while at Kaiser, I noticed that many
people needed help with chronic care. More and more
integrative approaches were becoming available to help them
lead much better lives than the drugs alone could afford.
I started researching how these techniques together with
conventional medicines can help patients. At physician
meetings, I was frequently invited to talk about women
physician wellness as well as stress management strategies.
As I saw increasing effectiveness in using integrative
approaches to treat chronic disorders, I decided to devote
more of my time towards it.
I believe our mind plays an important role in disease
formation. Hence our mind plays a vital role in healing as
well. Meditation, visualization, affirmations are some of
the ways to help he steer the mind towards achieving
optimum health. Together with medicines these approaches
help to restore and sustain optimum health and vitality.
I Believe that we all have an innate ability to heal
ourself. I am here to hold your hand while you embark upon
the healing journey.
I am fluent in Hindi and Gujarati.
