Dr. E. Scott Collier
Dr. Evan "Scott" Collier M.D. was born and raised in the Bay Area, initially pursuing an
education in mechanical engineering at San Francisco State University before entering the PhD program at UC Berkeley in biomechanical engineering. He studied at the University of California Ergonomics Program completing his Master’s thesis on carpal tunnel syndrome. Realizing the call to practice medicine was stronger than that of academia, he moved on to study medicine at the Chicago Medical School. He completed his family practice residency training at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez California.
A native to the Bay Area, Dr. Collier became accustomed to a healthy, balanced and active lifestyle. Growing up in this culturally diverse region exposed him to a variety of perspectives of health and wellness care. It has been his goal in healthcare to costume fit treatments to his patient’s needs.
He developed an interest in massage during graduate school and is taking coursework at the School of Shiatsu and Massage studying massage and Watsu. As a western trained physician with knowledge of complementary healthcare and a vision to focus on wellness-care along with sick-care, Dr. Collier advocates lifestyle changes and treatment modalities that improve one’s physical, mental, spiritual health and wellness with minimal, judicious use of prescription
medications. From personal experience he found that maintaining a healthy weight, eating a balanced diet and keeping active helps one to remain healthy and happy; and that a weekly massage can have far better and longer lasting effects than ibuprofen several times a week.
